About the tile:
The “Big Dipper” is an important element within my latest work.
Cherokee is a part of my
heritage, and the Cherokee Peace Flag consists of a simplified Big Dipper
on a field of white.
For me, it became a perfect image for the Peace Tiles. Today, as an artist
working in the city
of Boston, I feel I was fortunate as a child living in Oregon to spend nights
camping in the
mountains, away from city lights. I could practically hear the clash and roar
of far distant suns
burning over my head.
