About the tile:
A painter, Ruth Pettus used prefabricated tiles that she decorated with a
grid using bright,
multi-colored permanent sharpie markers, topped with a fixative that made
some lines bleed.
Some lines are loose; others are more densely woven. Each tile "led"
to the next, as she
selected colors more by chance than design. Creating the tiles in the middle
of winter, she
describes the bright colors on white tiles as “invigorating.”
