Carlos Rodal belongs to
a generation of visual artists who emerged in the
early 1990s as heirs to the various genres of the modernist movement of the
late 20th century. This generation revitalized traditional painting and
sculpture through the deconstruction of formal resources, frames and
supports and the use of new technologies and materials. Rodal works both
in Guadalajara and New York City.
About the tile:
The Jaguar has a mythical presence in Mexico since the dawn of
Mesoamerican civilizations (2500 BC until today). It is associated with
the night and the earth, and is a symbol of power, strength, spirituality
and knowledge. The spotted pattern of the Jaguar skin can be found through
architectural monuments and codexes.
