Workshop: Walking as Art: Moving Out and Across Our Senses, Institutions and Social Engagement + Single File History Art Walk
Moira Williams, Founding Member, Walk Exchange • www.walkexchange.org
Moira Williams’ presentation was a participatory, single-file walk along Boston's Black Heritage Trail. Attendees stopped at each historical site, allowing the participants to talk about each location's history. Starting with Williams, participants passed their comments down “the line” and back up, as in the game of “telephone tag.” Additionally, everyone explored several points along the way through sight, listening and movement exercises, such as creating “listening trumpets” from rubbings of objects along the trail. The presentation concluded with a conversation at the Thinking Cup Café about the group walk and Williams' Walking Art projects.
