Boston University hosted TransCultural Exchange's 2013 Conference on International Opportunities in the Arts: Engaging Minds, which took place October 10-13, 2013.

"One of the best things in the world of art today" - David Medalla, Director, The London Biennale.

Laurie Anderson served as the keynote speaker; Huang Yi performed at the gala; New York Times best selling author Reif Larsen talked about the future of the book; scientists like Merav Opher joined in conversations with artists and Florian Dombois created a new public art work, which celebrated the gathering of so many people from so near and far, united by the belief in the power of art.

By all accounts, the Conference was the best yet. Along with more than 50 panels ranging from cultural diplomacy to residences, workshops focusing on practical needs like funding, local tours and showcases of exciting new works, there were hundreds of portfolio review sessions. As one attendee wrote, it was "a brilliant, uplifting and important event." "You've given hundreds of people a real gift with this Conference," wrote another. "It was so helpful and so exciting to see the really excellent presentations and meet so many innovated and creative professionals... I never have been interested in science and art, but that has now changed."

In just days after the Conference's end, emails from many of the more than 400 attendees began to pour in attesting to how the Conference had already begun to impact their careers. "It was the single most interesting, enjoyable and productive conference that I have ever attended."
